Barnstable Town Council to Discuss & Possibly Vote on Cape Cod Commission Withdrawal Ballot Question, and Voter Referendum Measure
At their 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 20, 2014 meeting, the Barnstable Town Council will be discussing and possibly voting upon the issue of a Cape Cod Commission Withdrawal ballot question/voter referendum measure.
Anyone desiring to monitor this matter should periodically check the Town of Barnstable website at: Legally Posted Meeting Notices
If you wish to contact your respective Town Councilor, their contact information may be found at: Town Councilor Contact Information
or call the Town Council Office directly at: 508-862-4738
The main point being made in this effort is that the voters should at least be allowed the opportunity to weigh-in regarding this matter. Their collective voice needs to be heard. It should be their democratic right to do so regardless of how such a voter may go. The results can then be appropriately interpreted and respected by all interested parties.
Since the Cape Cod Commission has now existed for more than 20 years, the voters can either say that they like the way things are with the Cape Cod Commission, or they may decide that they now want things to take a different direction at this point in time. However, it would only be the right thing to do to at least allow the matter to go to Barnstable voters to decide upon.
It would be in keeping with the finest values and traditions of “our American democratic system of government.” Think about it…
